The aviation industry in Singapore is well-placed to benefit from the growth potential of aviation-related activities. As an endeavour towards the drive to prepare the Singapore workforce the future economy, SIM GE has launched a Specialist Diploma in Aviation Management (SDAM) to hone the future skills of new talents in the aviation industry

Further Education

Graduates are eligible for consideration for admission into the undergraduate degree in Aviation at SIM RMIT as well as undergraduate programmes in many other institutions

Career Prospects

Graduates of the programme may obtain junior management and supervisory positions with air services providers, airlines and airport organisations located throughout the world

Teaching Faculty

Lecturers are both academic and industry-based professionals with extensive work experience and knowledge in their domain

Delivery Mode

The course is 100% face-to-face lecture-based learning. Coursework includes attendance at lectures, discussions of case studies, tests, presentations, and completion of group and individually-written assignments

Curriculum

12-month part-time programme of 8 modules:

  • Principles and Practices in Aviation
  • Principles and Skills of Management
  • Operations Management
  • Accounting and Finance in the Aviation Industry
  • Business Analytics Concepts and Applications
  • Emerging Technologies and Innovations
  • Design Thinking for Innovation
  • Aviation Industry Project

Contact hours: 30 hrs per module, total: 240 hrs

Duration of each lesson is 7.5 hour, lectures at least one full-day a week

Candidature Period

Maximum allowed period to complete the 12-month programme is 24 months

No refund or recourse should the student fail to complete in the maximum period

SIM reserves the right to recommend and withdraw a student who cannot cope with the demands of the programme

Minimum Class Size

Minimum class size to commence: 25 students

If take-up rate does not meet the minimum to commence, students will be informed within one month before class commences

Admission Criteria
  • Polytechnic Diploma or equivalent
English Language Requirements
  • GCE ‘O’ level credit pass (grade 1 to 6) in English (as a first language) or equivalent

Assessment & Exams

Continuous assessment and end-of-module test

Continuous assessments include case studies, class / online tests, discussions, presentations, group and individual assignments

To attain a pass for module with grading, students must achieve an overall minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 1.0 (grade ‘D’) for that module

Attendance requirement

Attendance requirement: 75%

Graduation

Graduating students who passed all 8 modules will be issued a transcript and awarded with a Specialist Diploma in Aviation Management from SIM upon graduation
